Telehealth in Hackney (UK)

3 minutes 21 seconds. Title: Telehealth in Hackney This is the clearest explanation I have seen of how remote patient health monitoring is managed in the NHS, what patients do, and its benefits. The 3.21 minute video on YouTube does not hide its Docobo origin, but that fact is not ‘in-your-face’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRVfVAWg5Bg The video was made by Choose Independence Ltd.... Telecare and telehealth coming together in Norfolk (UK)

...is no implication that AT has a remote component in any way, which is the key defining characteristic of telecare, telehealth, telemedicine, etc. When I was contracted to work at the Department of Health I frequently reminded civil servants and Ministers not to refer to telecare as ‘assistive technology’ and I thought that eventually the message did get through. As regular Telecare Aware readers will know, Wireless Healthcare is a favourite source of articles, so it is a pity that in this commercial report they have produced they chose to perpetuate the use of the pejorative term ‘elderly’ instead of the less value-laden ‘older people’. Wireless Healthcare’s story on the report [Page URL “http://www.wirelesshealthcare.co.uk/wh/news/wk05-08-0003.htm” reported to be compromised by malware 16 March 2015].... Continue Reading

DLF launches new version of SARA

Not telecare, but of interest to readers, the new version of the DLF’s online self assessment tool, SARA (Self Assessment, Rapid Access), includes a number of improvements based on user feedback. It is no longer necessary to register to use the service; there are more images; a more accessible design, and reports are generated more quickly. Birmingham City and Croydon Council have also licensed SARA for their own use as part of the Department of Health’s pilot project to test and evaluate the concept of self assessment....
